| | Re: Line in That option is part of the driver package for your soundcard or onboard soundchip. Sounds like you need updated drivers. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging www.coribright.com/windows "tindog" <tindog@xxxxxx> wrote in message news 06A8366-77C2-48E3-A9DA-BDFD5B31A621@xxxxxxQuote: > Why has Microsoft removed the Line In option from the recording devices? |

| | Re: Line in I have Line In as a recording device. I suppose it may have something to do with what sound card you use. I have a Creative SB X-Fi. You might try right-clicking on the recording tab page, and check Show Disabled devices, and Show disconnected devices. -- http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview "tindog" <tindog@xxxxxx> wrote in message news 06A8366-77C2-48E3-A9DA-BDFD5B31A621@xxxxxxQuote: > Why has Microsoft removed the Line In option from the recording devices? |

| | Re: Line in Ah, hmmm, I suppose then I may be screwed. Mine is an HP dv9700 and the sound card is not upgradable, it's integrated. Would an external sound card solve the issue? | | Re: Line in Well, I'm using Vista Home Premium, the audio device is: Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 (that's out of the device manager) The machine has a headphone output port, an SPDIF (?) output port and a Mic input. The sound card is integrated. "Hobo" wrote: Quote: > They haven't, at least not on mine. IOW plugging a mic into a line input will result in the mic being hardly heard and plugging a line device into a mic input will result in distorted, heavy clipping. Having said that, the labels are getting confused since the port can sometimes be configured. So, "audio input" can be configured for either Mic or Line Level devices. Just remember there is a difference when you run into it. -- BobF. |
