    Mini*.dmp

    Hi,

I have been getting the blue screen of death w/reboot alot with my Vista
box..I have d'loaded the tool to read the mini*.dmp files but it will not
give me access. I suspect it is my ethernet card drive but I cannot tell. I
always crash while on the internet and under load. The manufacturer of the
box updated the ethernet driver without any change to the crashing. How can
I read this file ??? can I send this (these) files to someone that can
decipher them ? many thanks for your help. Ian.

What are you doing on the internet when this happens?

What is the stop error on the blue screen?

To prevent the computer from immediately rebooting and to give yourself time
to read the blue screen, right click on Computer, select Properties, click
on Advanced System Settings, under Startup and Recovery click on Settings,
and uncheck Automatically Restart. Click OK, then Apply and OK again.

    Hey Colin,

I get the imfamous "driver irq not less than zero" error.....

I am usually uploading pics to a smugmug account and posting on some
newsgroups. Sometimes downloading or transferring large files. My daughter
and I am into photography..primarily MX. It happens so much that I now
recoginize the signs of an impending crash however, I usually cannot shut
    things down fast enough..

I will make changes as suggested because the blue screen go by quickly or it
happens when I am not at the box...

It will help to see what is tripping this blue screen..haven't seen so many
    since the advent of windows

    Ian.

I made the changes after I posted last message...and the machine crashed..I
    got this..

    Stop: 0X000000D1(0X00000014, 00000002, 00000001, 82520B10)
    NDIS.SYS – ADDRESS 82520B10 BASE AT 824FC000 DATE STAMP 4549B2FD

Doesn't sound like the e-drives, does it..

    How old is the computer?

Check for error messages in the event viewer.

To open the event viewer, right click on Computer, choose Manage, under
System Tools expand Event Viewer, expand Windows Logs, and inspect the
Application and System logs for red symbols.

What are these signs of an impending crash that you have learned to know?

No, it is not a drive issue. It appears to be in the network stack, NIC
driver, or the NIC itself (doubtful).
There is a kb on this at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/818326 but it
addresses the error on XP. It might be worth reading as a starting point
    anyway.

    Colin,

    Thanks for the responses.

Unfortunately, that link is .." Sorry, the page you requested is not
    available."

The computer is new...actually, I should say second computer..first one
wouldn't work at all...btw, it is a dell dimension 9200c..

I notice the computer slowing down ..then it goes into a stall...then blue
    screen..almost like slo mo..

    > Check for error messages in the event viewer.
    I have found a bunch...mostly like "computer stopped unexpectidly"...there
is one reference to DAP...but that package has always been flakey and the
problems started before that package was installed..wouldn't the answer be in
those mini dump files that the computer will not let me see ?

    Ian.
