Vista - hp f2105 monitor and ati radeon x600

When I upgraded to the new monitor, the drivers would not recognize the
higher resolutions. I even tried installing the hp .inf drivers for the
monitor and was still stuck at a max of 1024x768 which sucks for a wide
screen monitor.

I did a clean install and the higher res showed up using the default generic
drivers for vista.

When I installed ace excalibur from ati, I was bumped back down to 1024.

Hence, the problem is with the ati drivers and not microsoft vista.

And if you want the higher resoloutions that support wide screen, you need
to go with the generic drivers and monitor def files.
