Need a RealTek RTL8187 driver (Vista RC1 64 bit)

Hello,

I have a asus motherboard which the realtek chip onboard. On the realtek
site I found an installable driver, however the correspondig utility can not
be installed :>

Also note that under XP the actual driver utility combination, is unusable
to me sincer it does not support WPA2 with AES + TKIP.

So hopefully someware there is a working beta.

RE: Need a RealTek RTL8187 driver (Vista RC1 64 bit)

I have the same probblem. I downloaded the 64 bit driver but it still
didn't work. Keep getting the following error.

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be
corrupted or missing. (code 39)

I would greatly appreciate it if someone comes across a driver that
works or a solution to the error would let me know. Thanks.

RE: Need a RealTek RTL8187 driver (Vista RC1 64 bit)

Hello,

Not sure if this helps you, but be aware that there is a firmware update for
the RT8187 add on board available at Asus. You should definitly install that
update to get a driver installed.

Be aware this IS NOT related to my problem. I had installed that update
already. Also see extrat from asus support mail below

Sincerely,

extracted from asus support mail:

Sir, please click windows Start->RUN and input MSCONFIG. In the Startup
item, disable the boot up application as possible as you can(it means disable
the most items, like firewall or antivirus tools), then confirm and reboot
system. Test again. If not helpful, please download the latest driver from
asus official website to have a
test:ftp://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc...8187Update.zip

RE: Need a RealTek RTL8187 driver (Vista RC1 64 bit)

Louis,

Thanks for the info but it didn't help. I wrote to Realtek about a
Vista driver for the 8187 adapter and received a reply that they are working
on one and it should be out near the end of October.

Re: Need a RealTek RTL8187 driver (Vista RC1 64 bit)

I tried the RTL8187 driver X64 from realtek out of ther´s download
section an it worked but only if you use the startup option >"verified
driver must be use" deaktivating <. So Vista RC1 accepts also non
verified driver. and it worked perfectly i got kontact to my access
point and could transfer data. I hope that will help i used Vista64 as
i know in vista32 it will work without this option just say yes when it
ask to use a non verified driver

Re: Need a RealTek RTL8187 driver (Vista RC1 64 bit)

well, the x64 bit of vista still has a lot of driver problems, i had
used it for a week, and got rid of it and downgraded to the x86, and
that's doing a lot better with all my drivers, EXCEPT the RTL8187 wifi,
because i can't find the damn driver for vista

Try the "Auto installation program (supports Vista 64 and Vista)" version
6.1070 (2007/1/31), found here:

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...=true#RTL8187L

Re: Need a RealTek RTL8187 driver (Vista RC1 64 bit)

Ooops. Right page, wrong driver version. Under RTL8187L, that should be
"Auto installation program (supports Vista 64 and Vista)" version 6.1281
(2007/2/5).

Or it could be, under RTL8187B, version 6.1089 (2007/8/15).

I guess you have to figure out whether your device is RTL8187L or RTL8187B.
