    NAS recommendations

Hi guys, can you help? I'm looking for a NAS setup, if that't the correct terminology? I want to use external hard drives as back ups and required either a usb or router connection. I used Netgear for windows xp http://www.netgear.com/Products/Stor...age/SC101.aspx but Netgear do not produce x64 vista drivers and not looking to produce any as they say its too exspensive. Anyway, if the link works, I'd love something similar as it worked a treat with xp, but sadly, not with x64.

    thanks

The SC101 is the biggest piece of crap I've ever owned, no end of problems,
I had mine for a whole 2 hours before I returned it.
The ReadyNAS line seems to be a better product, a true NAS does not need
drivers or proprietary software, which the SC101 requires.

I use NAS from Simpleshare (Network Attached Storage (NAS) - SimpleTech SimpleShare), no need for drivers

I think your needs can best be met simply by a USB-connected external hard
    drive.

However, if you do want it on the network then the best product range by far
is Synology. Speed is up near the top, functionality is excellent, and the
management software is way out in front. Really superb machines.

I recommend something from the "Home and Small Workgroups" range.
