| | VIA Networking Velocity Gigabit Ethernet Adapter problems after SP I am running Vista Ultimate 64 updated to SP1. My mother board is an Abit AV8 w/ AMD Athlon FX55 CPU / 3GB RAM Integrated on the motherboard is a VIA gigabit Ethernet adapter. Prior to SP1 install it was working fine. I connect to the internet by LAN -> FreeBSD machine -> cable router -> Internet. None of that is really pertinent though. The cable router, blah, blah all fine up to Windows Vista machine. After I installed SP1 the adapter / Vista will only specify that it is connected to "Unidentified network", and "Local Only". No matter what I do, I am not able to get it to go out to the internet. I have tried just about everything that I can think of to get it to work properly again. And just in case you were wondering if the adapter has "gone bad" Nope. I can reboot in Win2k and the adapter functions flawlessly with no difference in apparent network settings (I use DHCP on my internal network) I finally got so frustrated that I installed an Intel 100Mbit Ethernet card into the machine. Vista correctly identified it and installed it and tah-dah! I have internet access. But NOT through the VIA adapter. This is a temp work around and I need to get the VIA GIGABIT adapter to function on Windows Vista again. If anybody knows why this might be an issue please let me know or make some suggestion on how to fix. Vista says that the device is working correctly and has the correct driver. I have Uninstalled it and re-installed it. No effect. I have turned of and on the firewall. No effect. I have used the little diagnostic tool (it always blames the cable router) which of course is not true. This is driving me bonkers. I am not a novice and in general know what I am doing. But I have no idea why this is NOT working. It WAS working up until SP1 install (however the SP1 install did fix my 3Ware 9500s problem) Anybody? Please? Thank you in advance. |
