I8042prt

I have just finished installing Vista Ultimate as a fresh install. I am
using a Logitech wireless mouse and keyboard. When I open the event viewer I
have an Event ID 7026 with an explanation that says:
"The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load: i8042prt
Null"

What I am finding for fixes pertains to the PS/2 Mouse port, and is way over
my head. I do find and entry for I8042prt in the Registry, but not sure what
to change There is nothing in the Bios that addresses PS/2.

TIA
Irv

Re: I8042prt

This is a bit technical but easy to do. I will assume your computer has no
PS2/8042 port. There fore you don't want that service to try and start. Read
this from MS:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935497

Now run regedit and go to the Services part as shown in the above article.
You are looking for i8042prt (not parport as in the kb article) Once you
find the right key, follow the kb instructions to change the Start to 4...
disabled. Be sure to write down the value there before any changes.
