| | DVD CD Device Recently I lost the ability to use my dvd cd device. Upon booting the system will read (green light flash) but then nothing would register. . . I am getting a Code 39 message which reads , "windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The device may be corrupted or missing". Although the D:/ drive is shown and it claims that the most current updates are applied, I am still unable to use my device. I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall without success, because of this problem my livlihood is tremendously affected. Any advice in resolving this conflice is appreciated. -- fresh breeze in Detroit |

| vista Hm premium 64 | Re: DVD CD Device Had similar problem today. Here is the fix that worked for me. Mine showed under device manager a yellow ! and said driver was corrupt. Used this regeistry fix and both drives started working... Re: Asus drw-2014l1t DVD not working Quote: jtracey ![]() I just got a new asus drw-2014l1t DVD writer (SATA) and installed it in to my Vista box. Windows did its found new hardware thing and then said there is an error installing new hardware. I have no drive for the DVD and the device manager shows that a driver is needed, even though windows used the cdrom.sys driver. I can't seem to find a driver and nothing I have tried seems to work. Anyone know how to fix this or has the driver? Hi jtracey! im new to this forum....so hi to all of u guys.... ![]() i had this problem some time ago with my notebook. i managed to fix it with a small Registry patch. ill include the steps below... 1. go to Device manager by typing "devmgmt.msc" in the RUN command (WinKey+R) or by typing at the quick search in the start menu. 2. right click on the dvdrw device and select uninstall. 3. after it has uninstalled run the patch and click ok when it asks to add information to the registry 4. now go to the device manager and click "scan for hardware changes" 5. the OS should find the dvdrw as a new device and install successfully. tell me either it works or not.... hope this can help ur problem...
