| | Windows Logo Key gets sticked Hello all, Since I got my PC upgraded from Windows 2000 to Vista Enterprise, I have had a problem with the Windows Logo key occasionally become a "sticky key". I can't put a finger on any sequence that causes the problem, but I finally found out that I can get the normal keys back by pressing one time at the logo key. In the set-up I have disabled "sticky keys", so this should not be the cause. I have noted that when the sticky logo key is active, and I change to Remote Desktop (remote computer running XP), the keys are not sticky on the remote. When I close the remote desktop, the keys are sticky again. Therefor I am quite sure that the problem is caused by Vista. Anyone out there that can help me disable this mal-function, that often occurs in the middle of writing e.g. e-mails (or writing questions to forums ;-)? Thanks in advance |

| | Re: Windows Logo Key gets sticked As the keyboard act like the logo key is pressed all the time, it is difficult to say if it is only one of the keys. But as the keyboard works OK when connection to a remote desktop, I'll bet it is a Vista problem. | | Re: Windows Logo Key gets sticked Hi, Xim. That has happened to me several times over the past years, including long before Vista ever came along and with more than one keyboard. Usually it was the Ctrl or Alt key that got stuck, though, never the WinKey, that I recall. And I don't use Remote Desktop. I've never found a dependable way to unstick the stuck key. Pressing it again SOMETIMES helps, but not always. It eventually comes unstuck but it is a real nuisance until it does. ;>( I'm sorry I can't give you much help. Just let you know that you are not alone with this problem. For me, the biggest irritation now is that the programmed keys on my Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 sometimes revert from their app-specific settings to the generic defaults, so sometimes I have to close and restart the app to reset my choices. All the usual advice applies, of course - latest keyboard drivers, clean the keyboard, pound the keys - but none of them are guaranteed to work. RC -- R. C.
