| | Can't set higher video resolutions nvidia 8800gts + viewsonic p815 How do I get my XP resolution back? I can't get more than 1600 x 1200 in vista using 'personalize'. I want the 1920 x 1440 (and higher resolutions) available as they were in XP. Same hardware. The monitor p815 will actually support many of the higher resolutions beyond 1600 x 1200. |

| | Re: Can't set higher video resolutions Did you just update the video driver? If so, roll back the driver to the one that was capable of driving the output at that resolution. It is possible that the driver for Vista doesn't support the higher resolutions that you are trying to obtain. If you are using the "built in" Vista video driver update it to the latest Nvidia driver located here http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us and choose your correct Vista OS (32 or 64 bit) but I think the same version downloads for each. The release notes for this driver shows that it supports the higher resolutions. The release notes say that up to 2048 x 1536 is supported, and this mode works on my monitor on XP. But in Vista the modes higher than 1600 x 1200 are not listed.
