Vista Tutorial - HP Color LaserJet 2840 Scanner not working

hey all, this problem caused me considerable anguish until i found this in a lonely corner of the internet... this solution to a CLJ 2840 scanner not working may be relevant to many different problem appearances.

it works! i took a side panel off at home and the data-ribbon from the card reader was right there, not attached to anything, enjoy!

I found out that a cable inside the 2840 came unplugged from the card reader and made it think it was a 2830. So it was installing the wrong part of the software and didn't even know it had a scanner.

They knew what the problem was a tech support when I called and talked Americans rather than people in India. If you buy a printer get a business one. They are still serviced here.

What driver did you use, I can't get my hp 2840 to work at all.

same problem here, 2840 did work under XP pro x32, but doesn't scan anymore under vista home premium x64. don't know how to remove side panel without breaking it, and can't find any drivers and/or software for scanning. printing works but only with driver for 2500 (driver for 2840 64bit doesn't work).
