Vista - Windows Disk Cleanup doesn't work

I have windows vista home basic 32 bit, inspiron 531s. I tried to utilize disk cleanup for C: drive and is inoperable. problems and solutions never has any solutions as to why. any suggestions as to why it may be inoperable.

I am having the same problem
I have a Dell latitude E6400 with Ulitimate 32bit.
When I select this program from the program menu
cleanmgr.exe
from C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories\System Tools

It gives me a choice to select -- My Files only -- or --Files from all users ---
The error message below happens no matter which of the two choices I select. The error happens 100% of the time.


Disk Space Cleanup Manager for Windows has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Please help me get Vista to work
