When setting up my HP, it told me to create recovery files...I put one disc in and it started the process. after that disc, it said I needed 16 more discs to copy all data. From that point on it will not read any disc in the drive...

you must have selected the option to create recovery on cd`s thats why it is asking for 16 cd`s you could have easily done it with 3 dvds . if it is a new system try reinstalling it to the factory settings .
