higher screen resolution...

I just bought a small tv monitor, 26", that takes s vid, rgb, hdmi, all that. but i hooked up rgb to the monitor, and running from an ati radeon x1200, using their designated Catalyst Control Center, it would not let me use a higher resoltuion than 1360x768, there is also a 1280x1024 resolution. there are a few, and i mean a few, more, but they are all lower resolutions than that. i was eventually able to force it to allow me to use 1400x1050 and 1920x1080, by unchecking the box that hid "resolutions that the monitor could not display". but even still, these resolutions are horrible, the 1920x1080 is unstable with this monitor, and the 1400x1050 is more stretched out on the screen. so everything looks short and stubby. is there anyway i could get a better resoltuion for this 26" screen?

Re: higher screen resolution...

the 1920x1080 only becomes unstable when i mess with the horizontal/vertical stretches. otherwise it is fine, but the images aren't very nicely contrasted and sharp. it is a decent resolution though. is there anyway to get a better resolution, maybe a little lower, like 1600x(?) or something, or to sharpen this image.

Re: higher screen resolution...

What is the native resolution of the monitor?
Does the Monitor's manual state that it will take 1920x1080 over HDMI? If
yes does it take either 1920x1080p/60 or 1920x1080i/60 and if using HDMI
which resolution are you trying to send?
If the monitor has a standard VGA PC monitor interface I suggest that you
use it with the native resolution of the monitor.
