Microsoft usb natural keyboard stops working

My computer is usually left running for extended periods of time and when i come back to my computer the keyboard will not allow me to type anything. I press the Caps Lock key and nothing happens, any letter or numbers pressed on the keyboard does not print out in any program that I try it in. There is no time or common thing that would seem to cause this.

The only solution is to reboot the computer, is there some update that takes care of this problem?

I've got Vista home prem 64bit, with all the updates that are available and the sp. All my USB ports are set to NOT go to sleep when idle, and the Flock light and the Numberlock lights are usually still lit up on my keyboard like normal (hence getting power) but can't type anything.

Thanks if someone can help me with this annoying situation, that occurs about 2 or 3 times a week, of which my computer stays on 24/7

Re: Microsoft usb natural keyboard stops working

I should also mention that it's not specific to just this one keyboard. My last Microsoft Natural 4000 keyboard also had this issue, and the one before that had the same issue except it was on an XP machine.

You might try shutting down at night to let the system shut off programs
that are not in use, and to empty out the memory banks.
Reboot the next day when you sit down at your computer.
Try this for a couple of weeks to see what happens.
