eSATA External HDD

Just bought a WD 500gb hdd and an antec MX-1 enclosure. It has eSATA. Put it all together and plugged it in / hooked it up to computer and turned it on. I went into control panel and disk management bla bla bla, can't find the hard drive?? The computer should recognize that it is there right? How else can I formatt it if I can't even find it? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Try unplugging it and reinsert. If it has another interface, you might try
that. How do you have the drive jumpered--if WD, you might need to have it
set to single and not master.

One other thought, reboot. Not all SATA chipsets are hotswappable in
all modes, the generic/default drivers that Windows installs often don't
support hotswapping but once you find the correct SATA controller
drivers then hotswapping works.
