Vista - vista ultimate x64 ram problem

i have vista ultimate x64 edition installed on my computer. i have 4gb of ram installed however vista is only recognizing 2gb.

Need more details than that...

what kind of RAM... how many sticks, manufacturer, amount of memory on each
stick, what motherboard, what does the BIOS report etc etc.

First you need to find out what RAM your motherboard manufacturer
recommends. You can go either to the website of the manufacturer, or if you
know what your board is, also try www.kingston.com or one of the other major
RAM manufacturers.

When you've found out how much each RAM socket supports, only then can you
actually get the RAM you want/need. For example, if each sockets only
supports 1gb, you cannot put 2gb sticks in! There is also a total limit for
each board... if your mobo supports only 2gb, then putting 4gb in would be a
waste.

Post back when you've found out the info and we'll continue from there.
