Interpretation of ReadyBoost drive activity

I have a new Gateway cpu i7 920 Desktop with Vista 64 and 3G Ram. When I borrow my FAST flashdrive from my portable and use it in my desktop, ReadyBoost recommends reserving 3830 Mb for optimum speed. It is apparently useful, as the access light on the Flash Drive shows a fair amount of activity.
My questions are:
1) Does that activity prove I should increase Ram? I am not a gamer, but I do occasional video editing.
2) How much more ram should I consider?
3) Just for my info, how does Vista decide to allocate memory - Internal first, then ReadyBoost, or both (if present) at the same time?

Cheers
Warren

Here is a good link about Ready boost.

3GB of Ram is fine unless you run some very memory intensive applications
like video editing or video file conversions.

Re: Interpretation of ReadyBoost drive activity

Many Thanks Curious

I would not have guessed it was a cache rather than added memory. That info is very worthwhile - I guess I will consider one of the DDR3 kits with about 2G each channel (I have 3 empty slots) - ought to speed up the video and probably the audio editing when I have to do some.
Any comments on which Kits and/or other things to consider?

Cheers
