Where would I found out...

how much more ram my PC can take?
I want to put more ram on my PC & I don't know where I can found out how much it can take.
I tried crucial.com/uk but everytime I try to run the scan, my PC gets the blue screen.

Here's my PC: ALDI - Thursday Special Buys 27th November 2008

Re: Where would I found out...

well first of all how much ram do you have now? what kind of computer do you have and what do you use it for?... it might give you a better idea of what you should be looking at.. just because you need to get more ram doesn't mean you have to get the most your computer can handle, lol.

good luck

Re: Where would I found out...

I have 4gb DDR2 ram installed right now. I have a Medion Akoya P7300 d & I mainly use it for gaming. I also run quite a few programs simultaneously. (Photoshop, After effects etc.)
I don't really want to be opening it up right now though...

Re: Where would I found out...

ok

well what you need to do is find out what kind of motherboard you have, read up what it can handle and go from there.

According to the site you listed the OS pre-installed on your pc is 32bit not 64bit so have you installed the x64 version (no upgrade path from 32bit to 64bit)? If not then 4gb is it for you no matter how much the MB will take. If you have installed the x64 version then you need to know what MB you have. The web site you referenced does not list the MB but you should be able to find out. It should say on the MB itself or in the literature that came with your pc.

Re: Where would I found out...

I put the 64-bit OS of Vista on instead. And nowhere in the manual does it say about the motherboard, ram or anything similar.

Re: Where would I found out...

I would suggest looking on the MB itself, I'm reasonably certain that it will be written there, All of mine are.

Re: Where would I found out...

I found out my motherboard. It's a MS-7502 (MSI OEM).
I searched crucial.com/uk/ and all they have is MS-7052 (MSI OEM)
So I don't know how much my PC can take.

Now I've found out the motherboard, can anybody help?
