Just got my new Quickam Pro 9000; though both the camera and microphone work perfectly with Skype, the included software (QuickCam 11.8.0) doesn't start and doesn't work.
When I install the camera, it works fine up until it asks me to plug in the camera. At this point, Windows cuts in and says that the installer has stopped working, and then suggests that it should complete the installation itself. If I ignore that and continue, the installation tells me it has completed successfully. If I do both, the installation tells me it has completed successfully.
However, it must be lying because clicking on the Quickam software link just brings up the Windows error message "
Quickcam.exe has stopped working" etc. I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, clean reinstalling, repairing - nothing works. I can install the drivers separately (through Device Manager) but almost all the features of the camera are tied into the QuickCam software.
I'm sure there
are people with x64 that have made this work, but all it's doing for me is pushing me closer to murderous-rampage-o'-clock. If you're one of them and recognise the symptoms, or indeed any part of this issue...
