I have recently installed a Hitachi 7k1000.B hard drive as a replacement for a WD one. ever since I have done this Vista shuts down within 10 or 15 minutes unexpectedly and without an error message. I am dual-booting with Ubuntu 9.04 "Jaunty" which has been up and running for almost 80 hours now on a geforce8200 motherboard with onboard sound and video. This seems to be Vista specific. I have tried blowing out my case, upgrading bios, checking connections, reseeding RAM and HD, checking power supply, and system temp is normal. I can easily say that this is NOT a hardware issue but rather a windows issue. I have searched google for a few hours now without finding anything useful. I have Vista installed, but it is unuseable due to the frequent shutdowns. Does anybody have any idea as to why this is happening?
Thanks,
