Microsoft® Optical Desktop Elite for Bluetooth

Am I missing something, did I miss the boat or is MSFT missing the boat on
their own product? I read news posts, blogs and just about everything I
could before diving into Vista. I even built a new PC so that I could
experience everything Vista had to offer. I have a Vista score of 4.6(Core
2 Duo 6600, 2GB RAM Dual 300GB SATA drives, 7900 GS video) Now don't get
me wrong, I am using this wireless desktop with XP and it is comfortable and
portable at the same time.(I gave it my own kicks butt score of 5 stars but
had to lower it to 4 after missing the bus on Vista.)

I plugged the bluetooth receiver into one of the USB ports and Vista found
it right away and installed drivers for it. When the drivers were loaded
and Vista advised me that the hardware was ready to use the only thing it
could find was my cell phone and the Logitech bluetooth mouse and on the
other side of the house.(not bad for a distance of 40 feet) I contacted
MSFT directly and was advised that Microsoft will not be offering drivers
for some of their "wireless" devices until the official release of Vista.

Please help as I like the keyboard and mouse combo and want to use them with
Vista before the "official" release.

Re: Microsoft® Optical Desktop Elite for Bluetooth

Trust Microsoft to make their own products the lowest priority...strange I
know. It's true that Intellipoint/type 6.1 will be released soon for Vista.
In the meanwhile there is a workaround, although you wont get the full
functions of Intellimouse Explorer for Bluetooth, you'll get some, and all
of the Keyboard Elite function : http://neosmart.net/blog/archives/56

Re: Microsoft® Optical Desktop Elite for Bluetooth

Thanks Peter,

I got 6.1 for Intellipoint/type on CD with the elite desktop but when I try
to run them under Vista RC2 it errors out telling me that setup.exe is not a
valid windows file. I did not get the error when I installed using XPSP2.
That was why I called MSFT in the first place. I will however read the
blogs on neosmart.net in the hopes that some of the info there will help me
out.

Thanks again

Dave

Re: Microsoft® Optical Desktop Elite for Bluetooth

Open the CD and look for the setup.exe and try running as admin in
compatability mode with xp
