Vista - Toshiba SD-R5002 DVD/CD Drive not detected in Vista?

I have this drive and no matter wht i do i cannot access anything i put into
it.It doesnt show in device manager. It does appear in my motherboard boto
screen as being detected,but vista cant see it.Any ideas?

Did you format it with Fat32 or with NTFS since it may not be being seen if
it is not formatted with one of the 2.

I forgot to add,it's a DVD-R/CDR Drive,not a hard drive.

CD\DVD media do not use FAT32 or NTFS file systems, they use CDFS/UDF. Even
if it were NTFS/FAT32, Vista will still recognize and read it.
