| | STOP: 0x00000124 happens randomly when I play Sims 2 I got a new computer about 3 weeks ago, and for the past 2, I get the STOP: 0x00000124 as few seconds after the computer freezes on me when I play the Sims 2 game, I notice sometimes right before I suspect the computer to crash when I play the game is that I hear a tone that one of my devices would shut off, and all of a sudden the computer goes really slow and then freezes and half the time, I get a stop blue screen error I have already asked Microsoft, EA, and HP for help, and all the help they game me, including the SP2 update, all failed to help me, I have ran out of ideas of my own, like close unneeded opened background processes, update BIOS, and made sure that the 32bit thingy was opened on my HDD Another strange thing is that this error only happens once a day, randomly too, it could happen after I play the game for a few minuets or a few hours, and after the error does happen, it doesn't happen again for the rest of the day here is one of the reports, they all told me the same thing-- Product Windows Problem Shut down unexpectedly Date 8/31/2009 1:16 AM Status Not Reported Problem signature Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3 Locale ID: 1033 Files that help describe the problem Mini083109-01.dmp sysdata.xml Version.txt Extra information about the problem BCCode: 124 BCP1: 0000000000000000 BCP2: FFFFFA800D5D7030 BCP3: 0000000000000000 BCP4: 0000000000000000 OS Version: 6_0_6001 Service Pack: 1_0 Product: 768_1 ---- Computer- HP Elite e9180f Intel Core i7-920 2.67 GHz NIVIDIA GeForce 250 GTS 9 GB DDR3 RAM Windows Vista Home Premium x64 |

| | Re: 0x00000124 happens randomly when I play Sims 2 I never overclocked it, I left all the hardware alone on the computer, never touched it, I don't want to void my warranty, but I think that the processor maybe faulty, I had to already get the date cord for the HDD replaced, I guess getting a computer specially shipped to my house was a mistake I won't make again, I'll go get my computer looked at by a tech again |

| | Re: 0x00000124 happens randomly when I play Sims 2 Ok, I just got my computer back, the tech guy said there's nothing wrong with any of my hardware, but now when I play Sims 2, I get either the STOP error 0x00000101 or 0x00000124 randomly, but how is this possible if none of my hardware is faulty or damaged? |

| | Re: 0x00000124 happens randomly when I play Sims 2 The strangest thing is going on now, now when I play game, I accidentally left FireFox opened and played Sims 2, the computer didn't act up with any errors, so I left Firefox open whenever I play the game and for the past 3 days, no errors while I play the game, it's odd |

| | Re: 0x00000124 happens randomly when I play Sims 2 A wild guess-- Your new computer has a multi core processor, possibly an AMD processor. If so, (Multi core) you may be able to get SIM2 to run if you assign it to one core. | | Re: 0x00000124 happens randomly when I play Sims 2 didn't work, while playing the game, the computer started to act up, then it kept going slower and slower, then froze, after it froze I got a blue screen error message saying "a clock interrupt has occurred" |
