hard drives showing in "safely remove hardware"

My disc drives are now showing up in the safely remove hardware icon of the task bar. How do i keep them from being there? they are permanent drives, not external. why did they all of a sudden show up there.

thanks

Re: hard drives showing in "safely remove hardware"

Some motherboard/drive controller drivers mark the drives as hot-swappable,
so if you have recently updated or upgraded motherboard/drive controller
drivers roll back to the last version of the driver in question.

If you have the drives set up as ACHI in the bios they will show up as
removable drives. If the drives are set up in the bios as standard SATA
drives they do not.

No more icon for my hard drive or 2 dvd-rom drives.

Richard - Thanks for your input.

I did this once before and was able to get rid of it, just couldn't remember how.

I tried to roll back, but the option is grayed out. I will check the bios settings, hopefully that will do it.

Thanks, i will let you know.

OK Richard,
I tried changing the drives in the bios, they were already listed as SATA drives, everyone. I am now at a loss.
