Stopping Windows From Installing Drivers

Bouf!

I've tried stopping Windows from automatically installing/re-installing my built-in webcam's driver, but it still installs it.

I know you could set it to "ask me" or "never check" on the "Hardware" tab in "System" but nevertheless it still does.

Anyway to stop it completely? I don't want to disable it only, I just want to completely remove it.

Thanks!

Built-in devices will constantly be having the drivers automatically
loaded when Windows starts. The only way is to disable the built-in
device from the PCs (laptop) BIOS.

In the case of a webcam, one would disable it in Device Manager..

Re: Stopping Windows From Installing Drivers

Unfortunately this is how it works in Vista & win7.
After uninstalling a driver, the system immediately tries to restore the
previous one
(unlike XP which just leaves the driver uninstalled).

So the only solution is to disable the device, or install a "null" driver.
