You need to connect via a hard wired adapter with the wireless still
in the machine. Windows Update will pull down a working driver for
the wireless card. Don't shoot the messenger.

Does it count for Vista 64-bit too? Since I had problems with it

Well, I just can't find any driver for this piece of hardware. I tried it via
windows update and I was not successful. When I tried to search some forum
topics I couldn't find any reply that would help me. Or is the driver
available now?

Do you mean the DWA 542? I went to D-Link's site and they don't have
downloads for the DWA-547. However, here is the link to Vista drivers for
the 542.

Hm, actually, I have finally found the driver(not with windows update) but
when I install it, it says it can't turn the device on. The driver is correct
and the most current one but it still can't turn on. The card itself seems to
be active (the light is on) but I can't use it.

I am running 64 bit Vista. You have to connect to Windows Update
with a wired Ethernet connection with the wireless adapter also in
the machine. The universal Atheros adapter "covers" your DWA 547.
Here is the info from inside the latest inf file for the 64 bit
driver:
ATHR.DeviceDesc.DWA642 = "D-Link DWA-642 RangeBooster N
Notebook Adapter"
ATHR.DeviceDesc.DWA645 = "D-Link DWA-645 RangeBooster N650
Notebook Adapter"
ATHR.DeviceDesc.DWA542 = "D-Link DWA-542 RangeBooster N
Desktop Adapter"
ATHR.DeviceDesc.DWA547 = "D-Link DWA-547 RangeBooster N650
Desktop Adapter"
ATHR.DeviceDesc.DWA652 = "D-Link DWA-652 XtremeN Notebook
Adapter"
ATHR.DeviceDesc.DWA552 = "D-Link DWA-552 XtremeN Desktop
Adapter"
ATHR.DeviceDesc.DWA643 = "D-Link DWA-643 Xtreme N ExpressCard
Notebook Adapter"
ATHR.DeviceDesc.DWA556 = "D-Link DWA-556 Xtreme N PCIe Desktop
Adapter"
