Accessing a PnP scanner from a second computer

Hi,

I have a home network and one of the computers has a scanner attached. I
can't find a way to access this scanner from my other computers. Is there a
way to 'see' and use this scanner from the other computers, especially my
system admin machine?

I am using XP with full updates.

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

Scanners designed for the home user have never been supported in this way.
You'd need a scanner that supports being networked, and you'll find that
they are significantly more expensive.

Re: Accessing a PnP scanner from a second computer

Thank you Rick. Although not the answer I wanted it was the answer I
expected; looks as if its time for a new scanner. BTW, I apologise for
posting in the wrong newsgroup, I didn't realise until after I had sent the
post.

Cheers and thanks again,

Re: Accessing a PnP scanner from a second computer

Scanner software has to support that....scanners do not just share like a
printer...would be nice if they did

The vendor has to have software that specifically is made for sharing the
scanner. For example I have an HP Photosmart 6150C which allows this
sharing you are mentioning. I have a few other scanners from the past that
don't....it's all software that comes with the scanner.

What model scanner you have?

Jeff
