nvidia geforce 6800 go driver update not working

well, been using vista on an alienware laptop and i like what works, but all
my multimedia applications have been effectively murdered

my graphics card, nvidia geforce 6800 go, didn't show up at first, it was
listed as a standard vga and had no hardware acceleration, when windows
update finally offered a driver it did not install properly (i've reinstalled
the driver several times) it still shows the card as not working properly,
and because i have no hardware acceleration from the standard driver i cannot
capture any video from my sony dvx2100, windows movie maker does not work,
media center does not work, i cannot view any dvd video, adobe premeir does
not work and appears to need a reinstall, nero cannot capture or edit video,
basically my pricey audio/video workstation now has the same functionality as
my tmobile sidekick.

you have a day or so before i just reinstall xp and curse the gods

fyi my laptop is diesel i exceed all the minumum requirements, i have
captured some video but it was piss poor quality (zebra'd out) and unusuable,
there have been a handful of other quirks (including the disappearance of my
disk drives) but i've worked through them, however not being able to edit
video and audio is a deal breaker here. i do more than surf the internet with
this system. the fact that dvd's won't work at all is a crying shame and some
real elementary stuff here, you guys are smart enough to fix that at least.

Hang it up until nVidia and your laptop manufacturer release GeForce GO
drivers. The current drivers have problems across the entire GO spectrum.
