Intelli wireless keyboard & mouse

Now that the final Vista drivers are out, I was surprised to find that the
screensaver and power options still (e.g. Sleep) do not start at the time
set. It was mentioned as an issue in the beta drivers but no word on this
problem in the final version. The KB mentions it in relation to PowerDVD but
since I don't have that software, it does not apply.

Anyone else having this issue and / or solutions?

Re: Intelli wireless keyboard & mouse

Several people have mentioned that it is still an issue. After installing
the final drivers myself and confirming that it is still a problem I went
out and bought a mouse and keyboard that operates on the 2.4 GHz range
instead of the 27 MHz range. It's only the 27 MHz wireless setups that have
the problem. Now the screen saver kicks in and my system goes to sleep
automatically.

Thanks for the feedback. Hope it will be solved soon and that buying a new
set is not the only option. Still strange that the issue is neither mentioned
online nor in the readme.txt.

Re: Intelli wireless keyboard & mouse

Yes, this issue is extremely disappointing and disturbing that there is no
mention of this issue anymore like others have pointed out. It was listed as
a known issue with the beta release.

After this experience I won't be buying any Microsoft mouse/keyboard
hardware anymore.

IT looks like waiting for Microsoft to fix it is no option:

When I called Microsoft support about the issue, they said it is
known but have no plans to fix the issue and outright refused to send me a
working receiver.

BTW, the article mentions killing ehtray.exe as a solution, however it
doesn't work on my PC...

RE: Intelli wireless keyboard & mouse

I can take this problem further. After upgrading from RC2 to the final RTM last night, I noticed that the screensaver problem persisted. So, today I returned my MS Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 set to Costco. After returning it, I noticed there was a Desktop 6000 v2 with obvious upgrades to the one I had just sent back. Also, the new box said, "Vista Certified" all over it. I figured, "nice," and bought it. Took it home, and same thing - no screensaver.

I think it's funny how MS acknowledges the vista + screensaver problem here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/911895 but then sells the product as "Vista Certified." In my book, that's false an deceptive advertising.

Re: Intelli wireless keyboard & mouse

What wireless keyboard/mouse did you go with to work with Vista?
(2000 HD Heritage Classic & 2002 HD Ultra Classic)

RE: Intelli wireless keyboard & mouse

100% agreed. I saw the same 'Vista Certified' mouse/keyboard combos in Costco
and couldn't believe my eyes! These have a known problem with vista and they
seemingly have no intention on fixing it. This experience has turned me off
to any future microsoft hardware purchases and despite how 'small' this issue
appears to be, I question the integrity of the entire OS if they cannot even
make their own hardware work with their own OS. They have 100% control over
all pieces of this particular problem.

The same Microsoft mouse/keyboard work flawlessly in the APPLE OS. How
ironic is that?!

Re: Intelli wireless keyboard & mouse

Jeff

The manufacturers of the MS Desktop sets are responsible for the drivers,
not Microsoft..
