    Loss of audio

I have ASUS P5P800 Motherboard with Integrated SoundMax Audio.

Windows Vista Ultimate automatically detected and installed drivers for this.

When I initially boot up the system the sound works for all applications,
however, if I don't use my computer for a while, then go back on, I have no
sound unless I manually go into the sound control panel and do some change to
    configuration, then sound is restored.

Anyone have similar issue or information on why this is happening?

    Thanks,
    Erik

    RE: Loss of audio

I have BIG audio problems on my Thinkpad z60m (also a SoundMax chipset I
    believe)

The device shows as High Definition Audio but it really breaks up a lot
    under heavy I/O.

Almost like it's not an interrupt driven driver.

I'm hoping a new driver will come out and fix it.

    Re: asus P5P800

well your not going to get them from the asus site, yet. What audio do you
    have on that board.
Creative or Sound Max? you may be able to check their respective sites for
    drivers

    P5P800SE Vista Audio

I have exactly the same issue, it's really annoying, say you pause a video you're watching, then u press play all sound is gone, so you have to go to your sound device and uncheck some options, press apply, then re-check the options, and sound comes back... I also notice I cant play audio CDs in WMP11 in Vista... So I think it's driver issues, and I've been scouring the web for a long time to try and resolve this with no luck yet.

    RE: P5P800SE Vista Audio

I am also having the exact same issue but it is with a creative soundblaster
x-fi sound card but after i lose sound i cant restore manually from the
control panel, i have to reboot the computer. im also having the same problem
with my nvidia 7900 gs graphics card, it works perfectly at first but when i
quit out of a game and run it again it works 40 fps slower until i reboot.
currently these are my only windows vista problems but i only use a/v stuff
with my computer so it is annoying.

if you come up with any answers please reply
