Nvidia Geforce 6600 GT resource conflict

After upgrading my HP dc7600 desktop from Windows XP Pro to Vista Enterprise
rtm, I am unable to get the Microsoft supplied Nvidia driver to load. Device
manager indicates a resource conflict with the Intel 945G/GZ/P/PL PCI
Express Root Port driver. All that I am able to do is use the VGAsave
driver.

Under device status for the NVidia card, it says 'This device cannot find
enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)'.

I've tried 'Check for solutions' but found nothing.

Any suggestions?

RE: Nvidia Geforce 6600 GT resource conflict

It is just not this driver but many others including my NEC PCI to USB! I too
am searching for the answer to solving the resource conflict.

Have you gone into your BIOS and changed the onboard Intel graphics to no
longer be your primary graphics or to be disabled?

Re: Nvidia Geforce 6600 GT resource conflict

Yes, the onboard graphics is disabled and this all worked just fine under
Windows XP.

Re: Nvidia Geforce 6600 GT resource conflict

Yes, the on board video is disabled in the bios and does not show up in the
devices control panel.

This is a dual head configuration... the Geforce 6600GT has two DVI
connectors.

Almost same problem with GeForce 6200

I'm having almost the same problem when I upgraded to Vista now. My GeForce 6200 card gets Code 39 and is not usable. All I can use is vgasave.

Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

What version of the NVIDIA drivers are you using?

Re: Almost same problem with GeForce 6200

I have the latest version of BIOS, I already checked that. However, it quite old:

Mother board: ASUS P5GD2
Chipset: I915
BIOS version: 1006.001
Date: 2005-03-21

I have tried different NVIDIA drivers:
100.65
101.41
71.84

Nothing works.

Also, although vgasave makes it possible for me to use my screen, there is still the exclamation mark on the Graphic Card Device. So I figure i isn't anything wrong with the NVIDIA drivers.

Everything worked fine in XP and also the first hour after installing Vista. Then, after a restart, it workedn't no more.

Re: Almost same problem with GeForce 6200

If you have the Intel 915 chipset which includes it own graphics chip then
make sure that in your BIOS you do not have it set so that the Intel onboard
chipset is your primary graphics driver since the graphic chip in the Intel
915 chipset is not supported by Vista.
Also how much memory is on your 6200 board?
