| | Palm Hotsync unsuccessful I am having problems getting my Palm Tungsten E2 to work with Vista RTM ultimate. I have downloaded the latest hotsync software from the Palm website. I have installed the software. I have changed compatibility mode to XP-SP2. I have told it to run as administrator. I have disabled firewall, defender and antivirus software. No matter what I do, I cannot get it to find the usb drivers for the device. It will ask me where the drivers are. I point to the \program files\palmone\usb folder but it does not find the drivers there. I have read many posts across the internet where people were successful in getting Vista to hotsync with palm and I have tried all of the suggestions but no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help. This is really important to me. |

| | Re: Palm Hotsync unsuccessful I have had the best results by using the software that came with the Palm device. Also it won't work in Vista x64 no matter what you do. Are you running Vista x64? If you're running Vista x86 normally it doesn't find the drivers until you try to sync. The first time you press the sync button it finds the drivers. -- Kerry Brown Microsoft MVP - Shell/User http://www.vistahelp.ca "Databasepro" <Databasepro@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:AF7A1945-F7CE-42BD-ABDC-C37D46541598@microsoft.com... >I am having problems getting my Palm Tungsten E2 to work with Vista RTM > ultimate. > > I have downloaded the latest hotsync software from the Palm website. > > I have installed the software. > > I have changed compatibility mode to XP-SP2. > > I have told it to run as administrator. > > I have disabled firewall, defender and antivirus software. > > No matter what I do, I cannot get it to find the usb drivers for the > device. > It will ask me where the drivers are. | | Re: Palm Hotsync unsuccessful Sorry to say I am using x64. So I guess I will just quit trying to make it work. It installs under program files x86 but the OS is x64. I hope Palm resolves this soon. I have spent about 10 hours on this. Do you think I should try to obtain a 32 bit version of Vista instead of x64? I do have a dual processor machine. Thank you for your reply. "Kerry Brown" wrote: > I have had the best results by using the software that came with the Palm > device. Also it won't work in Vista x64 no matter what you do. | | Re: Palm Hotsync unsuccessful Get Hotsync software that is Vista-compatible and use it, or wait until it's released. You should never run hardware installers or driver installers in compatibility mode. If they refuse to run it's usually for a reason. ;-) -- Richard G.
