I have identified the source of the problem. I was looking at the audio out
port and started wiggling it and the speakers begin to work. So apertinly the
port got bent. Thank You for all your help.

Minor point (I can't help with your real question):

Windows Mail in Vista has its own built-in spell checker and no longer
relies on Word. All you have to do is click Tools | Options | Spelling and
make sure it is turned on. ;<)
