Vista Ultimate on Dell Inspiron 9300

I recently installed Vista Ultimate on my Dell Inspiron 9300 and have had
only two problems.

1.)My headphone jack works but the speakers don't.
2.)Vista compatible Nvidia 6600 go driver.

I have installed the sound drivers numerous times (vista and xp versions)
but nothing seems to work. Is there something I'm missing to get my speakers
working. I have also tried to use the dell diag cd but that doesn't do
jack.Sorry if there are spelling errors i haven't had a chance to install
word.

are you usinng?

The Nvidia 6600 go drivers I believe are on the Nvidia website. Where have

Re: Vista Ultimate on Dell Inspiron 9300

How did you fix the headphone jack problem. By saying sound issues i mean
that the headphone jack works fine if i have headphones or external speaks
hooked up, but i cant get the internal speakers to work. As for the Nvidia
drivers, i'ce looked on dells website and just glanced at Nvidia's page. BTW
i have Vista Ultimate build 6000.

Re: Vista Ultimate on Dell Inspiron 9300

Ok, i found a driver on the Nvidia website that might work but, halfway into
the installation it says that im not running Vista and the installation will
be terminated. I think that i have gotten past that point in past driver
installs but then it would say that the i dont have a valid Nvidia card
(Nvidia 6600 Go 256 on the card. idk, im wishing i didnt upgrade.

Re: Vista Ultimate on Dell Inspiron 9300

My headphone jack didn't work, so we had different problems. You should
look at the drivers section of the dell website, it has a vista section for
each laptop. Unfortunatly it only has sigmatel audio drivers. From the
looks of your graphics card, you probibly have a Audigy.

http://support.dell.com/support/down...=19&l=en&s=dhs

Go to inspiron and 9300 and then vista.

As far as the Graphics card...did you download the specific driver for your
card (Grapics driver, GeForce and TNT2, Vista x86)? What does it say for
your current driver in system, device manager?

With all of this I assume that you do not have aero glass functionality, and
can not enable it by going to desktop, right click, personalize, windows
color and apperance and selecting the "windows aero" color scheme.

Re: Vista Ultimate on Dell Inspiron 9300

I'm using an nVidia 6800GT on my test box, so for sure that driver is out
there. In fact it should have installed when you installed Vista rtm.

Re: Vista Ultimate on Dell Inspiron 9300

Ive got the video to work now, but im still messing with the auido. There is
a fourm on dell support from a few weeks ago and it said to check services,
so i did. I didnt find an audio or sound service. It also said to check
sndvol32.exe, which i do not have. Any idea where i go from here?

Re: Vista Ultimate on Dell Inspiron 9300

You need to uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and click on
"Show hidden files and folders" on the view tab in Folder Options. You
should then see it.
