SO Vi$ta means death to a lot of old hardware devices....

Is this ethical and environment-friendly?

It's your choice.

You have the freedom to wait until your current hardware naturally fails....

It's not my choice. It's the manufacturers' choice. Where are the
source codes? I didn't announce the "death penalty".

Who's going to teach me how to port 32-bit drivers to 64-bit?

1) What manufacturer forces you to do anything? You will be able to buy XP
for a long while yet, if you were so inclined.
2) How is buying a new PC with Vista less environmentally friendly than
buying a new PC with XP?
3) Source Code? Why should they give you the source code? Would Ford give
you the plans to the Focus?
4) What Death Penalty? WTF are you on about?

Why do you want/need to port 32-bit drivers to 64-bit? Vista comes in both
32 and 64-bit variants and with a bigger-than-ever library of drivers. If
the drivers you need aren't there you can approach the hardware
manufacturers. If they don't support your hardware under Vista then don't
buy it.

All the greedy (mostly USA) manufacturers in the world.

Without source codes, capable programmers could port x32 drivers to x64.
Of course, only if Micro$oft allowed that to happen first.

> 4) What Death Penalty? WTF are you on about?

If Vi$ta x64 is not going to have drivers for older hardware,
that's a death penalty to them.

Once there would be no drivers, a lot of old and functioning
hardware would be forced to be discard. You got it, did you?

5. Will USA recycle all those old/discarded hardware parts for this planet?

USA?

My new Vista machine is mostly Taiwanese. None of the top-level components
was manufactured in the USA.
