Whenever I reboot my computer the screen resolution changes back to a lower
resolution of 1024x768. I set the display back to 1280 x 1024 and use the
system.. when I reboot it sets back to that setting.. any ideas?

Try updating your video card drivers.

No i tried that.. I even went as far as buying a new video card (mostly so i
could get glass) with a nVidia 5200 where it was an onboard S3 card and I am
still getting the same problem.

The strange thing is that I have notived that during boot up it has the
correct resolution and half way through the boot up of the desktop it changes
back to the lower resolution.
