Vista - nvidia 88.61

i have a asus a8nsli premium motherboard with a EVGA 7900GTX video card,

i try to install the Drivers for vista but in the middle of installation my
screen goes black with some white speckling dots, i have to do a hard reboot,
but my drivers are still not the 88.61 drivers.. i have tried to do a driver
update from system device manager and it still does the same thing.. any
ideas ?

How long do you let it sit at the black with white dots? My ATI drivers did
the same for about 15 seconds, then came back. I think it was testing the
video modes.
