    Driver Install takes long

    Hi,

Does anyone have any idea why driver installations take so long on VISTA?
Whenever I add a new device to my notebook it take anything from 5 minutes to
about 20 minutes to install drivers!

Is there anyway to shorten this time.

Is this becasue your notebook is too slow?
The harddisk on notebook is usually very slow so you have to wait a long
    time.

that can't be right I have a HP nw8440 notebook which hs been performing
extremely well. When I had XP on there it would find the drivers in seconds.
Its after I loaded VISTA that it takes ages to load and I am not the only
person experiencing this problem. There must be a setting or something to
tell the OS how to look for drivers.
