Gee, both of my HP printers work fine and neither is very new -- a
DeskJet 880C (using an 882C driver in Vista) and a LaserJet 2100. The
LaserJet is attached to the Vista computer, but the DeskJet is on a
networked USB print server (D-Link PS121) that has no Vista software
yet. Nevertheless, I still got the printer to work just by telling
    Vista's Add-Printer Wizard it's IP address.

What HP printer are you trying to install?

Alot of the HP stuff hasn't caught up with VISTA yet. I know my 2710 doesn't
work with HP Director, through the computer.

    Software for Hardware Not Ready

Just bought a new computer HP m7750n with Vista Home Premium.

I am thinking to change Vista for XP.

    Two reasons:

    1) The HP Printer doesn't print!
    1) The HP scanner doesn't scan!

And the computer is an HP!

    .... and time lost!

I wanted to wait, but I was obliged to buy.!

    Any suggestions? Thanks

check the hp website, there may be vista drivers on it or call hp and ask
about drivers for the printer. This could be a toll call.

RE: Software for Hardware Not Ready

I am having the same issue and I have an HP PSC 1350 all in one. I can get
it to print but no scanning or anything else and forget about the software
for it. Won't install on Vista. Went to the HP webpage and looked for my
printer..It said ...upgrade to a new printer that will work with Vista. What
a crock. I will have to use my husband's HP for scanning.
