| | Does not recognize Windows Mobile 5 device I just received a new Vista Business machine. I installed Windows Mobile Device Center version 6.0.6783 and when I plug in a Windows Mobile 5 device (Symbol MC70) Windows says it does not recognize the device. Help? | | Re: Does not recognize Windows Mobile 5 device I had the same problem with an Imate PDA, not matter what I did I could not get the device recognised. I then reinstalled Vista with the PDA connected and it was recognised straight away and Windows Mobile Device Centre was installed as part of the setup routine. (rather than having to download it seperately) Hope this helps Iain "Rick Lederman" <rick@soaringsoftware.com> wrote in message news:uN6Gy6uTHHA.4756@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >I just received a new Vista Business machine. | | Re: Does not recognize Windows Mobile 5 device You likely went the hard way around it. I can cable sync only with my PDA. I had to uninstall the 3rd party bluetooth software that came with it and then install WMDC after that and all was OK. | | Re: Does not recognize Windows Mobile 5 device Thanks, but telling a customer to reinstall Vista is not a solution. I guess I will have to spend a MSDN support incident to try to get them to figure it out. | | Re: Does not recognize Windows Mobile 5 device Rick, How about letting us know what you find out. I also can't get my HP Ipaq winth OS 5.0 to sync up. I can read files on my PDA but I keep getting the message "Active sync encountered a problem on the desktop". I uninstalled Mobile Device Center and re-installed but nothing seems to work. What a bummer! I can't find help anywhere. Thanks Larry "Rick Lederman" wrote: > Thanks, but telling a customer to reinstall Vista is not a solution. | | Re: Does not recognize Windows Mobile 5 device I am at the same place with My Dell Axim X51. I can connect to my device, browse it, and even sync the folder, and OneNote, I cannot sync any Outlook items(calendar, contacts, Task, E-mail). I have Outlook 2007, I wonder if that has anything to do with it? "Larry Miner" wrote: > Rick, > How about letting us know what you find out. I also can't get my HP Ipaq > winth OS 5.0 to sync up. | | Re: Does not recognize Windows Mobile 5 device You have to uninstall mobile device centre, uninstall activesync and reboot then install mobile device centre again and you can now sync via cable but Vista wont support many Bluetooth dongles.
