Tosh Satellite

I have attempted to load Vista on a Tosh A30 (I think it is)

P4 2.8
512RAM
40GB HDD

The problem is that I get a blue screen explaining that the bios is not ACPI
compatible.
I wish to disagree with that!!!!!

Has anyone else had this problem?

BTW - Have burnt a multiple of disks and have checked them - They are all in
working order.

RE: Tosh Satellite

I also have a Toshiba Satellite A30 Series (SA30-714). BIOS Rev: 1.80

Yup ACPI stop error on mine. I am guessing the more advanced power standards
on some laptops is to blame. Why cant everyone stick to the standards to the
letter.

I plan to do some fiddling and if successful post some results.

Depressing as I have tried all my "play" PCs and wont install on any. Apple
iMac intel core duo, cant install on that without doing some nasty mods :S My
Main PC to valuable to use Beta on... guess i gonna have to find some bits to
build.

RE: Tosh Satellite

Well Look at the ACPI Standard... and also look up who wrote the standard and
when..

you have ACPI Standard 1.0B not 2 or better

you'll find out that vers. 2 and up was written in 2002 but these company
first became compliant in mid 2006 that way they hope to boost new sales with
vista.
got the same problem with a M35X which was sold till mid 2006 and some
people are still selling it.

this i would say is a deal gone bad for Microsoft.

RE: Tosh Satellite

WEll After some research I found out it's in the hands of toshiba to update
the BIOS to ACPI Vers.2 or higher for Vista to work.

RE: Tosh Satellite

Hello

Now all the facts are in...

Your Bios is ACPI Vers. 1 Cap. and you need a update BIOS to ACPI VERS. 2
or Better for vista to work
