I just got a new computer with Vista Ultimate and I wanted to transfer my music from my old drive so I bought an IDE to USB connector. WHen I plug it in nothing happens. The hard drive does appear in device manager but it marks it as unreadable. I have changed the jumpers to the correct alignment (which might be your problem sjb29, the jumpers need to be set to Master). I have no idea what to do. |

Any idea's anybody before my > girlfriend kills me before I lose all her photo's first of all you have to check if your device is properly recognized by Vista. Check out this in device manager. if all options are good (hardvare is recognized and you don't have got any "!" or "?" then you can try to initialize hard drive by Start -> Run (or Windows + R) and type: %SystemRoot%\system32\compmgmt.msc /s When you come in you have to find "disk management" and try to right click and "initialize disk". Options described may have different names because I translated from my language. |
