Problem with Radeon on VIA PT880 Ultra

Aero/Glass capable Radeon cards (R 9800 Pro 128MB AGP; R X1300 128MB
PCIe) do not run on my Asus P4V800D-X mainboard with VIA PT880 Ultra
chipset: The machine in very close to freezing - but speeds up
immediately after deinstalling the Radeon...
I have tried both the driver from within Vista Beta 2 and the driver
provided by ATI especially for Vista Beta 2.

Vista does not accept the VIA chipset driver (Hyperion; 4in1) labeled
as for WinXP.
I can't find any useful hint on viaarena.

Other video cards (GeForce4 MX440; Matrox G400) run fine - though
without Aero/Glass, of course.

Does any user have an idea what to do - or similar eXPerience?

RE: Problem with Radeon on VIA PT880 Ultra

I have an ATI Radeon 9600XT, and had a very similar problem with the Vista
Beta2 drivers from ATI. I did a fresh Vista install, and used the driver
from Windows Update, and now my card is listed(partially) in Device Manager,
and have Aero Glass. Try the Microsoft driver from Windows Update.

RE: Problem with Radeon on VIA PT880 Ultra

I am also having a problem with the x1300 on a VIA chipset, without the video
drivers installed my system flys, (3800 dual core 1 gig ram) but when I
install microsoft, or ati's driver package it slows down to a point where it
takes about 5 minutes for the welcome center to open... and I did notice that
it is having trouble pulling chipset and ram information from the card... and
it also cannot access the 3D or accelleration settings..
