Microsoft Bluetooth Stack for Vista [ MS USB BTH]

Hi,
I wondered whether anyone had compiled a list of Bluetooth USB dongles that
work with the native Vista Driver.

I've tried (and failed) to get a couple Belkin F8T009 adapters to work, even
resorting to hacking bth.inf [this allows the driver to install and devices
to be paired,... but initiating a data connection seems to result in a
protocol authentication errors]. My adapters a BT 1.2 not the newer 2.0
supported by some of the newer Belkin adapters (F8T013 and the like).

I'm only really interested in using the MS native Bluetooth stack, not third
party stacks.... So any news on which adapters are supported natively, or,
information from anyone that's managed to get a Belkin adapter to work would
be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
LID

Dont have that list, however.... Broadcom (Widcomm) have take pity on us
poor BlueTooth Users and have a driver (that doesn't need hacking) available
on their website for all recent devices based on their chopsets... See

Bluetooth dongle
D-Link DBT-120
Just a quick note... If anyone has a Bluetooth dongle based on the Widcomm
(Broadcom) chip, they have taken pit on all us Vista users (even X64) and
released a working driver for us all! You can find it at
http://www.broadcom.com/products/bluetooth_update.php

Re: Microsoft Bluetooth Stack for Vista [ MS USB BTH]

Thanks to both CrimLiar and MikeyHsd for their comments.

I am, as they surmised, using a Broadcom based BCM2035 device
[USB\VID_0A5C&PID_200A]. As per [the useful] MS KB
<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841803>, the BCM2035 was supported using the
native MS XPSP2 Bluetooth stack.

I liked the simplicity of the MS XPSP2 Bluetooth stack; it served my
purposes and was unobtrusive.

I also think that they're right in suggesting that Broadcom have realised a
Vista driver for many devices using their chipset; but I think this is
reliant on the installation of the WidComm stack. The use of a non-MS stack
is something I wanted to avoid.

Has anyone found a Bluetooth device that works with the MS Vista Bluetooth
stack?

Thanks once again,

LID

Vista bluetooth running ok over java

Hi

I've successfully used the TDK adaptor to communicate with my mobile from my PC running vista. However I'm not using the stack library directly. I'm running the PC part over ElectricBlue java stack (from http://www.javabluetoothstack.com/).
