| | Issues with HP Printer after upgrading to Vista Last night I upgraded to Microsoft Vista. I have an Officejet 6310 All-in-One printer and am having trouble printing. I have the printer connected to my home network. When I send something to the printer, it will sometimes print the first page and then half of the second before quitting. I have played with the spooling settings and even tried printing directly to the printer. I can't even print a test page without it quitting after getting half of the MS logo printed. I have no problem printing from my XP computers that are attached to the same network. Anyone have any advice for me? |

I eventually found the Vista was not detecting the printers internal memory correctly. I manually set the driver up with the correct RAM settings and now it works fine. I hope this helps. John |

| | Re: Issues with HP Printer after upgrading to Vista Do a search here and in the Print Fax Scan sections for your model printer -- you will find a number of messages. One person said he had used the XP drivers. If you try this don't let the CD autoplay but find the autorun.exe or setup.exe file, right mouse click on it and select XP for the compatibility mode then run it. That might help but I've not had to do it myself with either of my HP Printers. Scanners are more of a problem. If you use HP's Print Director there's some messages about that and a document on the HP website on fixing it with IE7. |

A lot of scanners will not scan over a network which might be your problem? Did it scan over wireless before you installed VISTA or is the whole setup new? In fact this is what HP says about the AIO6310: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document? docname=c00608729&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=1119598&rule=42858&lang=en Bluetooth: using optional HP Bluetooth printing adapter (print functionality only) You are lucky that it is "TWAIN compliant interface" which means you should have no problems setting it up to scan in VISTA with USB as I think you have found. Be a good idea to check HP for software and updates: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList? os=2093&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=1119598&lang=en to make sure you have the Full Feature Software and Drivers (which will not install correctly if you have the USB cable plugged into the PC when installing the software. Did you do that telling it Run or Save when Windows asked? If you used Save then it would not matter but might if you used Run which installs from a temporary download folder or if you used Save and then Ran the file from your download folder without unplugging the cable. If you find that some of the printing features are missing, like maybe duplex printing or fit to page, then uninstall everything, delete the printer icon and install again without the printer and its cable plugged in. |

| | RE: Issues with HP Printer after upgrading to Vista I bought a new Gateway computer and Windows Vista cane on it. I have "no scan options" on my HP 6310 aio. HP told me I needed a network. So I got a wireless and the network cable to go with it that HP recomended. After 19 calls to HP and the patch disc that they sent me I still have "no scan options" I think Windows Vista was a mistake on my part and I wish I had never seen it. I need to scan documents to attorneys and I am dead in the water. Can anyone offer some help I can understand? I am NOT a computer wizzadr just a casual user. | | Re: Issues with HP Printer after upgrading to Vista You didn't say which version of Vista you have.. the Home versions do not include the Fax & Scan software that was included with XP. The Ultimate, Business & Enterprise versions have the Fax & Scan software. The HP software for my 6110 has not been updated to run on Vista, so I downloaded and bought VueScan www.hamrick.com You can try it free. | | Re: Issues with HP Printer after upgrading to Vista Mary Lou ... are you using the Vista software for the HP 6310? That should have the option to scan from 'HP Solution Center' in the HP program. The drivers in the Windows Vista operating system do not support button press functionality on the printer. Here's the HP site for the Vista software download: http://tinyurl.com/ytxgdh Take a look also at the 'Solve a problem', 'Scanner' link on the left hand side of the above page. 'Needing a network' is BS ... it's a USB printer and will work as such but, since you're now on a wireless network take a look at the 'Wireless & Network' link in the above 'Solve a Problem' link above. If all else fails, you can temporarily use 'MS Paint' ... File, From Scanner or Camera', 'Scan'. -- HTH, Fred "Mary Lou P" wrote ... >I bought a new Gateway computer and Windows Vista cane on it.
