Broadcom Bluetooth Problem with Vista

I just did a new install of Windows Ultimate on an Acer Travelmate C111 with
built in Bluetooth.
The Bluetooth worked fine before with XP Tablet but the hardware does not
even show up under Vista. Everything else is great, I do have the AC97 soft
modem, which shows up under other devices as a PCI modem, but that is the
only unknown HW it finds.

So my question is what now? I have the bluetooth on from boot up like always
so I know it is on but Vista does not even recognize it as unknown hardware.
I am wondering if there is an issue with a bus driver or something that would
be shielding it from detection.

Any help would be must appreciated. Without Bluetooth it is a no go for what
I need to do.

Thanks
Clay

Re: Broadcom Bluetooth Problem with Vista

do not know if this will help, from another poster.

Just a quick note... If anyone has a Bluetooth dongle based on the Widcomm
(Broadcom) chip, they have taken pit on all us Vista users (even X64) and
released a working driver for us all! You can find it at
http://www.broadcom.com/products/bluetooth_update.php

Re: Broadcom Bluetooth Problem with Vista

I had found this and tried it but since Vista does not even detect the
hardware this install fails becasue it does not see the bluetooth hardware.
That is the wierd part, that it is not just a matter of getting the driver,
somehow it is not even detecting the hardware that it did under XP. That is
why I am wondering if it is tied to something else and if I updated a driver
for the USB or something that it would then see the BT hardware but I am not
sure what. I may have to go back to XP and document better and try again,
but what a pain.

Re: Broadcom Bluetooth Problem with Vista

Did you check the HP website to see if VISTA versions of operating
files are available? That can be a major problem with laptops whether
putting VISTA on one with an earlier Windows or the other way round.

Bluetooth

As you have an ACER computer, try to install Acer Empowering Technology and Acer ePower Management.

Just enable bluetooth in the ePower Management \
It works great fo me under Vista Business.
