Vista Tutorial - problems with USB-barcode reader driver / USB-memory-stick drivers

Howdy folks,

Since I upgraded the OS of my laptop to Windows Vista I have run into some
problems.
My computer is Dell Latitude D800, with latest BIOS version.

These following devices are not supported... or has someone better
knowledge. If they require some 3rd party driver software,
please let me know.

Device #1
Marson MT7800 -USB-barcode reader
is recognized as "MT PS/2-Cable To USB Converter V:1.2"
USB\VID_04B4&PID_0101&REV_0001
USB\VID_04B4&PID_0101
Driver cannot be found.

Device #2
Kingston Elite DataTravel 2 GB
is recognized as "DT Elite HS 2.0"
USB\VID_08EC&PID_0015&REV_0200
USB\VID_08EC&PID_0015
Driver cannot be found.

Device #3
Transcend 128 MB USB memory
is recognized as "TS128MJFLASHA"
USB\VID_0C76&PID_0005&REV_0100
USB\VID_0C76&PID_0005
Driver cannot be found.


.... so any workarounds? Other than new investments?

I have a similar problem with a NEW notebook Acer TM8215 wlmi (Vista
Ultimate with 2 gigabyte of ram ) and all sort of usb devices. Hard disk or
pen drives work randomly
(also if they are usually shown in the device manager as mass storage).
Often Win searchs for
the driver without being able to install it. The system is not able to remove
them properly (the light keeps on flashing).
There are a lot of threads about Vista and usb problems. The Microsoft patch
did not help. Some times the devices work but with a lot of errors. I can
not believe it (Vista is very expensive). I do not think my problem is
hardware related. Any solutions?

I haven't find drivers for this device either.
ID is USB\VID_413C&PID_8000&REV_0565

I like challenges, but I don't want to do all by myself. (Like writing
device driver software.)

There is a known bug concerning corruption of the file:
C:\windows\inf\INFCACHE.1

The workaround is simply to delete that file. You must first edit
its file permissions to grant Full Control to the Users Group before
you can delete it.

Yep. Thanks. This one worked with the bluetooth issue.

Well... I am surprised. This one worked also on my other devices as well.

USB- memory sticks and USB-barcode reader are working.
