Creative Audigy Update Broke My Sound!

After spending way too much time troubleshooting my audigy 2 soundcard, I
finally got it to work recently by reseating the card into another slot. It
was working fine until I clicked on the recommended "creative audigy" update
within Vista Update. Immediately following this update, my system crashed
numerous time and was unwilling to reboot.

I was an early adopted with Win95, Win98 and XP. None of the aforementioned
OS's have given my as much grief as Vista. Heck, Vista RC1 seemed a hell of a
lot better!

What's going on?

Drivers at the manufacturer's site are often more up-to-date than those
found through Windows Update. You might be better served to use Update
only for MS patches and features.

Once the system is up, try Control Panel|DEVICE
MANAGER|SOUND...CONTROLLERS. Double-click on the Creative item, then
click the DRIVERS tab, and try a roll-back.

Or reinstall the latest drivers for that card...

Lots of issues still with Creative sound card drivers. Many unhappy folks.
Creative is not doing a very good job to say the least. Go to the Creative
web site and try the drivers they have there.

Creative didn't solve a similar problem that I had when I upgraded to
Windows XP Pro when it first became available. I reverted to the sound
system that was on the main board.

Re: Creative Audigy Update Broke My Sound!

Device Manager doesn't see any creative card. I've installed, re-installed,
pulled-out and reseated my sound card, but to no avail!

I am getting sick and tired of Creative's lack of creativity with
constructing a decent driver. I have been unable to use my soundcard since I
initially installed Vista in early February.

Thanks dev.

Perhaps the genesis of the problem lies elsewhere. Here Audigy 4 is
working fine. However, the current driver does not support most
software utilities bundled with the card...which does appear in Device Mgr.
