possible) 56K dial-up modems?

Just get an external hardware one that connects via Serial Port and it
doesn't need drivers.

Re: Vista Compatible 56K Modems

Tried the link you suggested but it comes up with this (in quotes):

" Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Windows Vista Hardware Compatibility List is currently only compatible
with Internet Explorer 6 and above. We apologize for the inconvenience and
are working to remedy this situation."

Re: Vista Compatible 56K Modems

My PC does not have any serial ports and I need a modem with USB connection.
I tried connecting my old usb modem but it does not work in Vista and the
manufacturer has not posted any upgrade patch for it to be compatible with
Windows Vista. Hence my request for Vista Compatible dial-up modems. I need
one to be able to send faxes. I have checked and find that these are easily
available in USA but so far I have not been able to locate any UK dealer who
sells Vista Compatible 56K dial-up modems. USA dealers charge a minimum of
$60.00 for shipping to UK which makes it hardly worthwhile importing from
USA.

Re: Vista Compatible 56K Modems

I was trying to open it in Firefox. I see it opens in IE. Thanks a lot for
your help. Quite an impressive list of Vista Compatible modems. Yet when you
ask dealers or modem manufacturers they do not appear to be aware of this
and give you the impression that 56k modems are limited to work in Windows
XP and below only.

Re: Vista Compatible 56K Modems

A footnote to my earlier reply.
I have yet to locate an inexpensive 56k pci internal modem available in UK.
Any help in this narrow field will be appreciated.
